A NEW landmark has been installed in Durkar as part of the ever-expanding Calder Park business centre.
The park’s developers, Peel, teamed up with Crigglestone Parish Council to unveil the marker stone at the business park on Denby Dale Road.

The six-tonne stone is on the roundabout near the entrance and has been given to the local community as a gesture of goodwill from Peel.

It is made of Howley Park Sandstone and is designed to fit in with the rural and natural feel of the Calder Park development. The materials used are all from Yorkshire.

In conjunction with the scheme, Crigglestone Parish Council has provided a planting trough dedicated to the memory of Barrie Tomlinson, a popular local postman.

Nick Hey of Peel said: “We are delighted to give the marker stone to the local community. We have taken care to ensure all materials are from Yorkshire and to fit in with the style of both the business park and the parish of Crigglestone.”

Parish councillor John Peebles said: “I am pleased to unveil the piece of public art given to the people of Durkar by the developers of Calder Park.

“We have also provided a planting trough in memory of Barrie Tomlinson, who was a well-liked and respected member of our community.”
