THE technological revolution is making its way towards a local care home, allowing elderly residents to keep in touch with relatives.
A new IT suite is being installed at the Woodlands Residential Home, on Woolley Low Moor Lane, Woolley, and more IT classes are planned for the near future.

The centre is home to 27 residents, including a 105-year-old, who are all looking forward to taking a trip on the information superhighway.

Home owners John and Anne Kelly are funding the suite.

Manager Sandra Goodall said: “It’s very important as we have residents whose families live away in places like Belgium and Wales, so they can keep in touch with them.

“It makes contact much more accessible for families. just because they are elderly it doesn’t mean they should not have access to modern technology.”

The owners have also commissioned a painting by Bretton-based artist Malcolm Bowman, which will be unveiled along with the opening of the IT suite on Tuesday.

The painting shows a portrait of the artist’s mother, who was a resident at the home.

The new additions are all part of the home’s 30th birthday celebrations this year.
