A COMMUNITY arts group has been awarded £10,000 from development agency Yorkshire Forward.
Partake, based in the Art House, on Drury Lane, has been working alongside Balfour Beatty and Consort Healthcare to bring artists into schools.

It is currently involved in a five-year ‘Artist into Schools’ project at Cathedral School, on Thornes Road.

Julie Hollings, from Partake, said: “The partnership between Partake and Balfour Beatty in Wakefield has been established for just over a year, and celebrates the strengths of both organisations.

“The five-year project at Cathedral School is one of a number of initiatives to create artworks which will be exhibited and installed in Pinderfields and Pontefract hospitals, and the £10,000 grant from Yorkshire Forward will enable the partnership to extend this work and involve more local community groups and organizations.”

The grant was presented to Partake by 1980s popstar and Live Aid hero Midge Ure at Yorkshire Forward’s Creating Better Futures 2008 awards ceremony at Leeds Town Hall earlier this month.
