A GROUP of girls who struggled in education have turned their lives around thanks to a Wakefield beauty salon.

Picasso, on Kirkgate, took its first 10 City and Guild beauty trainees last September from schools around the district.
They are all aged 15 or 16, had struggled to succeed in education and were offered the traineeships as an alternative by the local authority.
Now they have been awarded with Level One City and Guild certificates and are looking forward to progressing to college courses.
Jayne Newman, training coordinator at the Salon, said: "They have all done really well and all their parents came to see them presented with their certificates last week."
