VISTORS to the city could find a more comfortable night's sleep ahead as two local hotels look to expand.
The St Pierre Hotel, Newmillerdam, has recently been taken over by Best Western Hotels.

As part of the merger, the hotel hopes to expand and provide more jobs for people in the area.

Sarah Bolson, sales manager, said: “Joining Best Western allo
ws the hotel to be promoted on a global scale, without losing its own personal identity as a family run business.

“The move will not only benefit the hotel but also increase Newmillerdam’s exposure to tourists as far wide as America and Australia.”

Also, the former Red Kite Express by Holiday Inn hotel on Denby Dale Road is set to start conversion work to become a 74- bedroom Premier Inn.

New signage will go up this week and a major refurbishment programme will begin in December.

Paul Flaum, chief operating officer, said: “We are delighted to be adding another Premier Inn to Wakefield and to be investing in the town. Premier Inn is expanding rapidly across the UK as we provide our guests with a great night’s sleep at a cost that appeals to them.

“We see Wakefield as a great location for us and a place where we can build a strong future.”
