A CHILDcare centre in Ossett is set to expand its operation.
Rainbow Childcare, based on Wakefield Road has been in business for 20 years.

It is run by author Ann McKann who now plans to open for the first time on Saturdays to help parents working on a weekend.

Ms McKann said: “There are lots of parents who work on a Saturday and we have extended the baby facilities for local needs. We now take on 48 children of which 18 of them are two years old.

“We will be taking children up to the age of five and I have been speaking to a young pregnant mum who thinks the idea is brilliant.”

Before and after school facilities are also available for children aged up to seven.

The pilot scheme will start on Saturday, June 7 and will last for 12 weeks.

Ms McKann is about to begin a nationwide school tour with her new range of children’s books, starting next week in Yorkshire.

Her first novel called Chavos, The Kids of Distrito Federal, has been nationally acclaimed and is a best-seller.

Profits from her books go to her charity Rainbow Childcare International (RCCI),

The main aim of RCCI is to rescue abandoned, abused and neglected children living on the streets of Mexico City by setting up rescue centres and employing the local population to help as workers

She is also to start work writing a series of articles for childcare magazines.

To book a child place on the nursery or for more information visit www.rainbowchild care.co.uk or e-mail rcc_int@yahoo.co.uk or call 01924 277 260.
