SEGURO Logistics is taking part in trials to save energy and help reduce carbon footprints across the continent.
The Wakefield firm, which provides temperature-controlled storage and distribution to the food industry, retail and manufacturing sectors has joined a radical energy management initiative – the EU-DEEP project.

Sponsored by the European Commission, EU-DEEP is a 30m euro, five-year, research project looking at reducing energy use.

Around 35 companies across Europe are in the initial phase and the cold store operating sector of Seguro Logistics, Seguro Storage Ltd, based at Langthwaite Business Park, South Kirkby, is one of a handful of other medium-sized UK firms taking part.

Group chairman Charles Marr said “I am delighted we are involved in a scheme that not only helps Seguro to become more environmentally friendly, but also has the potential to help other businesses across the UK.”
