A TASTY new restaurant is on the menu for Wakefield as a husband-and-wife team prepare to open their dream business.
Lesley and Craig Corfield have been successfully running their Why Not sandwich bar on Lower Warrengate for almost two years.

But when the chance arrived to open their own restaurant as part of the new Travelodge development at Magna Plaza, they just could not say no.

The couple will be serving up their new business, Why Not Bar and Bistro, with a grand opening tonight and they firmly believe that they are here to stay.

Mr Corfield, 37, said: “There’s a lot going on nearby with the Trinity Walk retail development well on the way just next to us and the Travelodge building too, so it’s great.

“Wakefield will be the new Leeds – it may take five years, but we are here from the new beginning of the city.”

The couple will be aiming to focus on the important things that make a restaurant and bar successful.

Mr Corfield said: “What we are trying to aim for is something very personal, giving people that personal touch and a homely feeling.

“That’s what we believe will take us through for years to come. It’s what people like and what we like – good food and to be looked after.”

Why Not Bar and Bistro opened for breakfasts last Sunday in preparation for the official launch tonight.

Mr Corfield said: “To be honest, we are still on cloud nine because it’s all really happening.

“It’s all a bit surreal because I wanted this from a young age and so did Lesley. So when we met, we both had the same dream and now it’s all happened.”
