SALE: Horbury library are holding a used book sale tomorrow from 10am onwards. Refreshments will be available while you browse through the many titles available.

HOME GROWN HORBURY: Home Grown Horbury are inviting all those interested in getting fitter and growing their own fruit and vegetables to sign up for the group's first 'Green Gym'. The group is planning to use the overgrown church garden at St John's church, Horbury Bridge as the first of many plots which will be revived by volunteers meeting weekly to turn plots into community 'allotments' that can be used by group members to grow their own fruit and vegetables. Anyone wanting more information about the scheme can come along to St John's Church on St John's Street, Horbury Bridge at 7pm on Monday, July 12 where they can sign up for the free scheme and where the group will also be holding an edible plant 'swap shop' for anyone who has potted up too many fruit and vegetable plants and wants to swap plants with other growers.

PUBLIC MEETING: Wakefield Council are holding a public meeting at St Peter's School on Tuesday, July 13 from 6pm to 8pm for the proposed amalgamation of St Peter's Junior school and Clifton Infants. You will be able to view the new plans for the school and redevelopment for the site. There will be a presentation from the Local Authority along with a chance to ask questions of representatives from the school, the Local Authority and project designers, NPS Group.

PARTICIPATION: Orchard Croft Medical Centre on Cluntergate have recently established a Patient Participation Group and are looking for more patients from all ages and social and cultural backgrounds to join them. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact reception on 01924 271016.

HEALTHY & HAPPY: Up and coming on Saturday, August 21 at Horbury Community Centre is a Healthy, Happy Women's Day embracing all aspects of Women's mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health. If you would like to contribute or help in any way please contact Catherine on 0798 033 4902.

FRIENDS: The Friends of Carr Lodge Park are holding there monthly meeting next Wednesday at 7pm in the library.

SOCIAL: Horbury Social Club are meeting next Wednesday afternoon at 2pm in the Library.

AID: Christian Aid house to house collections made in May in Netherton, Horbury and Middlestown and the collection on Horbury High Street raised a grand total of £2809.83. Thanks are due to all the collectors from the churches in the area who turned out to help on the streets and of course to everyone who generously contributed.
