COUNCILLOR SURGERIES: Coun Terry Brown's surgeries are held the first Monday of every month at Broadowler Stores, Broadowler estate, from 6.30pm till 8pm, and the third Tuesday of every month at Ossett Town Hall from noon to 2pm (except bank holidays). Coun Terry Brown is also available for home visits by appointment on 01924 273732. The Liberal Democrat surgeries are held each Saturday from 10am till noon in the magistrates' room of Ossett Town Hall. Coun Elizabeth Knowles will be attending tomorrow. TRINITY CHURCH: Trinity Church welcomes all ages to their main service at 10.30am every Sunday. Crèche and young church activities are available. Everyone is welcome to stay for tea and a chat after the service. The centre is open throughout the week, running professional childcare groups during the day and a variety of groups and classes in the evening. The main hall is also available for hire, and is a great venue for children's parties etc. For enquiries, please contact the office on 01924 263497.
CHRIST CHURCH: We welcome you to our services on Sundays: 9am is a communion service; 11am is a less formal service and there are groups for children from two to 11 in the parish centre and a playpen in church for the under twos. The 6pm service is 'with a touch of the experimental', and is the time when young people over 11 worship. On Thursdays we have a communion service at 10.15am. CROFTLANDS SOCIAL ACTIVITIES: Regular coffee mornings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10.15am. Activities coming soon include a carvery buffet on July 9 at 6pm followed by entertainment with Alf Berry vocalist/guitar – Cost £6. This should be popular so please book early. SUMMER FAIR: Gawthorpe Primary's summer fair is on Thursday, July 16, from 3.15pm. There will be a bouncy castle, bouncy slide and the police van will be visiting. There will also be enterprise stalls, a BBQ, cafe, tombola, and much more. All welcome.
SOUTHPORT DAY TRIP: Ossett Civic Trust is having a trip to Southport on Saturday, July 25, leaving Ossett Community Centre at 8.30am. The cost is £15 for adults and £8 for children (£1 discount for civic trust members). Tickets are available from the Ossett review office on Tel: 01924 260500.
PRE-SCHOOL PLACES: Bright Sparks Pre-school, Manor Road, Ossett (Ofsted Registered), has places available for two to four-years-olds. CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR: Will take place at Ossett Town Hall on Saturday, November 7, and has a few tables available at £10 each. Crafters please contact the organiser for a booking form on 01924 263618. Please note that there are no vacancies left for Christmas cards. This event is very popular and well-attended and is organised by The Elizabethans.
COMMUNITY EXHIBITION: Ossett Town Hall will be hosting the Ossett through the ages event tomorrow from 10am until 4pm. This free community exhibition will show what the town and area means to people from all backgrounds and will be a celebration of its past, present and future as seen through the eyes of its inhabitants. The exhibition focal point will be a stage where visitors will see performances from local and professional groups all focused on celebrating the town. There will also be free parking in the council car parks in Ossett.
WAKEFIELD GERANIUM & FUSCHIA SOCIETY: Annual show will take place in Ossett Town Hall on Saturday, July 11. Open to the public from 1.15 until 5pm. Free admission. refreshments and plants for sale. Come along and see a spectacular show of colour.
GAWTHORPE NEIGHBOURHOOD PACT MEETING: Will take place on Wednesday, July 8, from 7pm at The Maypole Children's Centre. You will get to meet some of the officers responsible for your neighbourhood and talk to them about their priorities for the area. You will also have access to crime data for your area and be updated on what has happened to criminals convicted for crimes in your area.
GAWTHORPE NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICE SURGERY: Takes place every Saturday between 5pm and 6pm at the Co-Op, Dewsbury Road.
