PARISH COUNCIL UPDATE: The flower tub at the eastern entrance of Sharlston has now been moved to a site just by the turn-off into the middle road across the common. This makes it more accessible for planting and maintenance. The area adjacent to Sharlston Play Area has now had the grass cut and the area generally tidied. The offer to manage and keep tidy the dam and Sharlston Common area by Mr Lees has been greeted favourably by the countryside and conservation group at Wakefield Council. They have produced a poster advertising the Friends of Sharlston inviting more interested people to join in and help Mr Lees.

GOSSIP FROM THE POST OFFICE: When one of our computers broke down this week and we were running around like headless chickens, Big J treated it as a spectator sport and stood outside the window laughing at us. Just wait, Big J. You will be sorry, believe me!

SANS GROUP UPDATE: Anyone who has problems with housing or tenancy can contact the Wakefield and District Housing tennant involvement and support officer Becky Lane at King Charles House, Pontefract, phone 01977 788150. Two youth workers form the Youth Work Company have been funded to work with the young people of Sharlston since last May.
