YOUTH CLUB: The Ryecroft youth club is open Monday to Friday each week at 4 to 6pm Monday Tuesday Wednesday Friday and 5 to 7.30pm on Thursdays. They are always looking for volunteers to help support the sessions so if you are 18 years or above and would like to get involved in youth work, please call the centre on 01226 723659 and ask for Bethanie Tottie, or leave your details with a member of staff who will pass the information on.

COUNCILLOR SURGERIES: Councillors Maureen Cummings and Albert Manifield will hold surgeries 9.30 to 10.30am on Friday September 3 at Havercroft Community Learning Centre and on Saturday 4 September at St Pauls Church, Chapel Street, Ryhill.

HEALTH WALKS: Why not join your local healthy walking group which meets every fortnight starting from Havercroft Community Learning Centre at 10.30am for an hour or so.  The next walk is on Wednesday 8 September.  Contact the Centre on 01226 72782 for more information.

HAVERCROFT AND RYHILL SPORTS AND YOUTH CENTRE: will be starting an under 9's football team this season. There will be a number of friendly matches during the summer leading up to the start of the season in September, any one interested should call Gary Middleton on 07944 825717.

ST JAMES CENTRE: Coffee and cakes will be on sale at the centre this morning Friday August 27 commencing at 10am.

CHARITY SHOP: The charity shop at The Living Hope Church, Cow Lane, Havercroft is open 9am to noon on Monday and Tuesday mornings. A chance to enjoy a chat over a cuppa and pick up a bargain. All welcome.

THE GROVE, WALTON: Planning Decision Imminent. The proposed development of 250 houses at the top of The Grove, Walton is schedule to go before WMDC Planning Board on Thursday 2 September.  There should be a site visit by Planning Board members on the Tuesday prior to the meeting, 31 August 2010, time not yet known.  Residents who wish to meet and speak to the Planning Board Chairman should make time available to greet the Board when it arrives on site. Confirmation of the Date and Time will be posted on the Walton Parish Council web site at www.waltonparishcouncil.org.uk.   Anyone with questions please contact Maureen Cummings 01924 363165.

WALTON METHODIST CHURCH: The preacher on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. is Alan Spurr. There will be NO Open door on Tuesday. Craft Class is on Wednesday from 9.30am to noon.

COFFEE MORNING:  Make plans to get along to the coffee morning being held 10 to 11.30am on Saturday 4 September at Walton Methodist Church. There will be cake, toy, book and bring & buy stalls.  Admission 50p including refreshments.  All proceeds will go to Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. Proceeds to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

WALTON COMMUNITY CENTRE: Every Sunday evening for music, a quiz and 'play your cards right'.

WALTON WOLVES: The under 14's have started pre season training at Crofton community centre on Wednesday nights at 6.30pm. Players new and old are welcome to attend. The team also looking for a new sponsor, if interested or can help please contact Darren Holmes 07876144991.

WALTON WARRIORS ARLFC:  The Under 17s have now started pre-season
training and are looking for new and old players to join.  Training is at 6pm on Thursday. Please contact Richard on 07590671356.

NOTTON PARISH COUNCIL: Will meet on Thursday 2 September at 7.30pm in the village hall. A representative from the Neighbourhood Policing Team is likely to be in attendance and there will also be a presentation from the VOX Community Empowerment Network on the future of engagement with the rural areas of the Wakefield District. Residents are encouraged to attend.
