LEARNING CENTRE: Havercroft and Ryhill Community Learning Centres new programme is out now. There will be lots of new courses starting from September 2009 – please contact the centre for a programme posting out or for details of how to enrol. COUNCILLOR'S SURGERIES: Coun Maureen Cummings will hold her next surgeries from 9.30am to 10.30am today at Havercroft Community Learning Centre and tomorrow at St Pauls Church, Chapel Street, Ryhill.

COMMUNITY SOCCER: A youth soccer team for 14 to 16-year-olds is being run by PCSO James Smith, a member of Wakefield neighbourhood police team, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on Thursdays at Havercroft and Ryhill Sports Centre.

HAVERCROFT AND RYHILL GALA: Not long now before the gala which will be held on Saturday, July 18. Anyone wanting further information please contact Margaret Goddard on 01226 725082.

RYHILL AND HAVERCROFT GARDENS IN BLOOM: Gardens will be judged at the end of July. No garden too small. Also have a section for tubs and hanging baskets. Application form available from the Happy Shopper, Ryhill.

RYHILL ART SOCIETY: Two exhibitions have been arranged in the near future. The first of these is at the Discovery Centre, Anglers Country Park, commencing tomorrow and running until Sunday, July 12. The second exhibition will be on Sunday, July 19, at the Boat House, Newmillerdam.

YOUTH CLUB: NACRO uses the youth club every Tuesday and Thursday between 6pm and 8pm and provides activities for young people on a referral basis. The youth club is also open 6pm to 8pm every Wednesday.

COFFEE: Coffee, tea and home-baked cakes are available at St James' Centre, Ryhill, on Fridays at 10am.

CHARITY SHOP: The charity shop at Living Hope Church, Havercroft, will be open 9am to noon on Monday and Tuesday with women's, men's and children's clothing at bargain prices.

MULBERRY CLUB: Mulberry is a community sports multi-skills club for young people with physical and learning disabilities. The next club night is on Monday, July 6, at Havercroft Sports Centre (juniors 6pm-7pm, seniors 7pm-8pm). Experienced coaches deliver fun sessions to promote mobility, confidence and co-ordination. ACTIVITY SESSIONS: Connect 3 is running activity sessions at Havercroft and Ryhill Sports and Youth Centre on Mondays from 4pm to 6pm. The sessions are designed to work with parents and children aged five to 16 years to promote a healthy and active lifestyle. For more details, call Louise Edwards on 0783 3048339.

DROP IN: Drop-in at Living Hope Church is from 9am to 11am on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with toys for the kids and a chance for those looking after them to enjoy a chat and a cuppa.

THE BIG LUNCH: Join in this national event by having a lunchtime party or picnic on Sunday, July 19, and put the smile back on Britain's face. Get together with neighbours, friends, relatives and strangers to organise a bring-and-share street party, garden party, picnic in the park. Make friends, make music, have fun. WALTON METHODIST CHURCH: The preacher this Sunday at 10.30am is Alan Spurr. On Monday the after tea dance group meets at 6.30pm for its last session before the summer break. On Tuesday Open Door is from 10am to 11.30am. Why not go along for a cuppa and a chat? Wednesday craft class is from 9.30am to noon.

COUNCILLOR'S SURGERY: Councillor Maureen Cummings will hold her regular monthly Walton surgery 6.30 to 7.30pm at Walton Library on Monday, July 6.

FUN DAY: Walton Community Centre is having a funday on Saturday, July 18, starting at noon. Events include a tug-of-war competition, children and adult races, children entertainer (Professor Shell), displays by Starlighting Majorettes, karate display, fairground rides, various stalls and face painting. Food and refreshments will be on sale all day. At just £5 per stall anyone wishing to have a stall please contact Graham or Sue on 01924 250758. This should be a great day out for the whole family and everyone is welcome.

YOGA: Dru Yoga Class at Walton Village Hall 1pm to 2.30pm. Learn to relax and unwind with this beautiful flowing style of yoga. Suitable for both beginners and intermediate, try it out for only £4 for your first class.

MOTHERS UNION: Walton Mothers' Union will be meeting on Monday, 13 July, at 7.30pm in the Barnabas Rooms, St Paul's Church, Walton, when the speaker will be talking about 'The Five Objects', an excellent opportunity to hear what the Mothers' Union is all about and current projects. Everyone is very welcome.

SCOUT GROUP: There are places in all sections of the 23rd Wakefield (Sandal Methodist) Scout Group. Beavers (aged six to eight) meet on Tuesdays, 6.15pm to 7.15pm; cub scouts (eight to 10-and-a-half) on Wednesdays, 6.30pm to 8pm; scouts (10-and-a-half to 14) on Tuesdays, 7.15pm to 9pm.
