ANTIQUES: If you have any genuine antiques and collectables you may be interested in taking a stall at a fair at St John’s Church on Saturday, October 1 from 10am to 4pm. The cost is £20 and if you would like more information, please call Pauline on 01924 280351.

CONCERT: Horbury Methodist Church Hall is the venue for a concert with the St Raphael Singers on Saturday, September 24 at 7pm. Tickets are £5 which include light refreshments from 01924 271014 or on the door. All money raised will go towards the church development fund.

LUNCHEON: A luncheon club is held every fourth Tuesday of the month at Horbury Methodist Church Hall. The next one will be at noon on September 27 and will include a two-course hot lunch and tea or coffee at a cost of £4. If you would like to book a place call 01924 265589, 314052 or 260891.

ACTION DAY: Friends of Horbury Lagoon’s next meeting is on Tuesday, September 22 at 7.30pm at Slazenger’s Sports and Social Club.

FESTIVAL: The Cricketers Arms present Great Beers of Great Britain in a weekend long festival from Friday September 23 to Sunday September 25.

REUNION: Horbury School Class of 1984 holds a reunion at Boon’s pub, Westgate, on Friday, September 23 from 8pm. See Facebook group ‘Horbury Comp 79-84’ for more information.

POLICE: The neighbourhood police team holds a meeting on Thursday, September 22 at 7pm at Horbury Library. The team would like to apologise for the late cancellation of its August meeting as officers were diverted to deal with the riots.

HOCKEY: In conjunction with England Hockey’s Grow Your Own initiative, Slazenger Hockey Club will host a free junior coaching session this Sunday. All ages and abilities are welcome, with U10s and U12s training Sunday 9.15am-10.30am and U14s and U16s 10.30am-noon. If you miss this session, don’t worry, as training is on every Sunday morning.
