FRIENDS OF STANLEY MARSH: Join the Friends of Stanley Marsh tomorrow as they take part in the RSPB’s annual Big Garden Bird Watch from the comfort of the rangers’ hut. Binoculars will be provided and help will be on hand to identify birds. Please meet at the Rangers hut, in the Stanley Marsh car park for a 10am start. LOFTHOUSE METHODIST CHURCH: Tomorrow, there will be a coffee morning at Lofthouse Methodist Church from 10am to noon. Admission is £1; there will be cakes, bacon sandwiches and various stalls.

ST PETER’S CHURCH: Tomorrow evening, St Peter’s Church is holding a social evening called Wok around the World. Come along at 6.30pm and bring an international dish to share, and enjoy friendship and chat. There will be a speaker who will be talking about our link diocese in Tanzania. No booking needed; please bring your own drinks.

MOUNT ROAD METHODISTS: The 10.30am family service this Sunday, January 29 at Mount Road Methodist Chapel will be led by David Hann. Next Wednesday, February 1 there will be a coffee and cake meeting from 2pm. Please come along for a coffee, some cake and a friendly chat.

LOFTHOUSE GATE PRIMARY SCHOOL: The PTA is organising a shopping event on Thursday, February 9 from 7pm to 9pm at Lofthouse Gate Primary School. Refreshments will be available and there will also be a raffle. The money raised will be used to help buy extra IT equipment for the school.

STANLEY RODILLIANS: Stanley Rodillians rugby club, off Lee Moor Road, have recently appointed a new coach and are looking to recruit more players. Out of season rugby league players would be made most welcome. Please contact Paul on 07989 405655 for more information.

GOOD COMPANIONS: The bingo winners last week were E Parkin, C Macfarlane, B Wilson, L Wilcox, B Robinson and M Greenwood. The meat raffle was won by T Wilkinson and J Dixon and the members’ draw was won by D Highley, T Wilkinson and H Reynolds.

MOORHOUSE COMMUNITY ACTION GROUP: The next meeting of the Moorhouse Community Action Group will be on Thursday, February 9 at 6pm at St Peter’s Church Centre on Lake Lock Road. The meeting is open to everyone who wants to get involved in planning the new community centre in Moorhouse.
