ST PAUL’S CHURCH: This Sunday is the church’s big patronal festival as it is the day the conversion of St Paul is being remembered. All the uniform groups will join in this special parade service with the cubs playing an active part in what used to be known as ‘bring a torch’ Sunday, when everyone shone their torches on the person portraying St Paul. The congregation of St Michael’s Church will also be present for this special event and everyone is welcome to attend and bring a torch if they wish. Please note the special time of 10am.

LINDALE METHODISTS: The morning service at Lindale Methodist Church on Sunday at 10.30am will be led by Rev Tony Jones. There will be a prayer service at 6pm. Next Thursday the Rock Club will meet at 3.45pm.

FLANSHAW URC: The service at Flanshaw United Reformed Church at 10.45am on Sunday will be led by Michael Littlewood. The Wednesday Group next week will meet between 10.30am and noon and there will be a prayer meeting next Thursday at 11am.

WAKEFIELD ANGLING CLUB: The club is based at Flanshaw Dam, Flanshaw Lane, and is pleased to report that the chairman and president is to be presented with an honorary award by the Mayor of Wakefield, Coun Ros Lund, for his 50 years of service as a member and his promotion of fishing to the community. In particular, children with special needs at local schools have benefited from his teaching.
