HALL GREEN UNITED: This Saturday Hall Green United are at home to Bradford side Campion FC with the reserve team away at Salts Reserves. Both matches are in the West Riding County Amateur Football League and kick off at 2pm.

THE LIGHT SHINES: The next family service at St James’ Church, Chapelthorpe, will be held on Sunday, February 5. The theme of the service is the light shines. Family services at St James’ are short and family friendly services in which children lead the worship.

  ST JOHN’S CALDER GROVE: Rev Canon Ian Gaskell was the celebrant and Gill Cunliffe, reader, was the preacher at the eucharist at Saint John’s Calder Grove.

  ST JAMES’ CHAPELTHORPE: Rev Canon Roger Cressey was the celebrant and Gill Cunliffe, Reader, the preacher at the parish eucharist on Sunday.

  RAGATA: John Seacome and Rev Canon Ian Gaskell spoke to the Sunday School at St James’ about the link parish of Ragata in Mara, Tanzania. The children designed and produced posters of greeting which will be sent to Ragata.

ST PETER’S CHURCH: Last Sunday, Canon Stephen Kelly was celebrant for communion and Stephen Oakley preached the sermon. Stephen is on placement in the parish of Woolley with West Bretton as part of his studies to be ordained. Lessons were read by Marion Davis and Jan Kelly. Organist was Maryrose Lacoux. This Sunday sung communion is at 10.30am.

COFFEE MORNING: Last Saturday morning a coffee morning was held at Pear Tree Farm, by kind permission of the Hellewell family, £1,051 was raised for church funds. DIAMONDBACKS: For its February meeting, the Diamondbacks Youth Group is planning to visit the Ice Cube in Leeds Millennium Square.

KETTLETHORPE PLAYGROUP: Kettlethorpe Playgroup is open five mornings a week at Kettlethorpe Community Centre on Standbridge Lane, Kettlethorpe. The group accepts children from children aged two. If you are interested in registering your child please call in any morning or call 07764190270 or 07834 898467. If you have a child under the age of two you can pre-register your child. All staff are first aid trained.  There are places available for immediate start but these are limited.
