HAVERCROFT PARISH COUNCIL: The next meeting of Havercroft-with-Cold Hiendley Parish Council will be held in Havercroft and Ryhill Community Learning Centre on Wednesday, February 8, at 7pm. The council have been successful in gaining re-accreditation as a Quality Parish Council.

NEW COURSE: A new health and social care level 1 course will be starting at Havercroft and Ryhill Community Learning Centre on Tuesday, January 31, from 9.30am to 12.30pm. This course is ideal for those wanting to know more about this area with a view to working in the sector. For more information please contact the centre on 01226 727824.

WINTER WALK: There will be a charity winter walk on Sunday, January 29, beginning at 2pm at Anglers County Park. This will be a guided walk of 1.5 hours duration. Entry fee is £5, which will contribute to the Dr Jackson Cancer Fund charity, which has supported the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust for over 30 years. WALTON METHODIST CHURCH: The preacher on Sunday at 10.30am is John Wadsworth. On Tuesday open door coffee morning is 10am to 11.30am and craft class is on Wednesday from 9.30am to noon.

BARNABAS ROOMS: The 10th anniversary Celebrations for the Barnabas Rooms at St Paul’s on The Balk will be held on Sunday, January 29 at 11am. Since they opened 10 years ago, the Barnabas Rooms have become a vital part of village life in Walton, providing a beautiful place for community groups to meet. The Boogie-Woogie Tots, CATS Childminder’s Group, Pilates groups and Beaver Scouts meet weekly, and Children’s Church meets monthly on a Tuesday after school. An Alpha course for those inquiring about the Christian faith is currently running. A Christmas oasis holiday at home for seniors was recently held for some 44 older people to enjoy a time of creativity and singing with lunch. It is sustained by the faithful commitment of Alan Cottrell, Mavis Rowley, Eileen Calkeld and Teddi Foster. Everyone is welcome to attend the service followed by refreshments.
