Daft ideas at hospital
A public meeting was held this week regarding the naming of the new hospital building here in Wakefield.
It is not a new hospital but a new building. Same staff, same grounds and same care in an outdated building.
After much discussion and many strong and passionate speeches from the floor, it was unanimously agreed that the name should remain as Pindefields Hospital.
Whatever change is made it will always be called Pinderfields Hospital pure and simply by the people of Wakefield and countrywide.
The spokesman for the trust said it was decided by the board alone (not good enough) that Wakefield was needed in the title so people would know where it was situated.
That is just rubbish. The board should have known that a public consultation was necessary.
Over the past 70 years, how have thousands of patients ever found Pinderfields, Clayton, Snapethorpe, County, Fieldhead, and all the other well-known hospitals up and down the country if we need the name of the town or city in the name?
We are all aware how may hospitals are in debt. This would be a criminal waste of money if it was to go ahead. This money could be put to better use. The people of Wakefield do not want it, so I advise the board to scrap the idea now.
How I dread getting an appointment for Jimmy's. Where on earth could it be?
The trust must think we're are as daft as they are.
