No need to be worried
FURTHER to the letter in the Express (13/8), regarding WDH tenancies, from a reader who believed that she would lose her home under new government proposals to change social housing tenancies.
The person concerned is worrying needlessly. Presumably he/she has an assured tenancy with WDH and as such her home is secure for as long as he/she continues to meet their obligations under the tenancy agreement.
The suggestion from government is that new tenancies might be granted for limited periods so as a single person doesn't end up living in a three bedroom house while a family in need wait for years on the waiting list. There is nothing unusual or sinister in this. It is the way that private rentals normally operate and is being done in order to make maximum use of the available properties.
Nobody is going to be forced to leave their homes, despite what some people believe, or are encouraged to believe by those with a vested interest.
