Selfish actions on bus

Riding the free City Bus in Wakefield could be hazardous to your health. Many problems are becoming a regular occurrence, such as groups of young people being loud, swearing and just not showing concern for other passengers.

Mothers with pushchairs can not use the spaces provided for them because people are sitting in those spaces and do not move to accommodate the parent and pushchair, thus pushchairs are often blocking the aisle making it dangerous for fellow passengers trying to get off the bus.

On Saturday afternoon at about 3.15pm my daughter and I were getting off the bus at Kirkgate, near the old Woolworths.

As the bus came to a stop, my daughter, who was in front of me, was injured by the door as it opened as she moved forwards to get off the bus because people were pushing to get on. As her foot got caught the driver closed the doors so that she could move her foot and the door caught her in the stomach.

When he opened the door again, people were still pushing to get on.

Don't people have any common sense – or are they just plain ignorant and stupid? If you are waiting to board a bus, it is common decency to allow room for people to get off before you attempt to get on.

My daughter was screaming because her foot was caught and yet there was no concern for her or whether she was hurt. As a result she suffered terrible bruising to her foot and stomach.

Be careful when getting off and on the bus at Kirkgate.
