Calm down, whizz kids

IF the seemingly interminable roadworks are to last much longer, may I suggest some simple action which could be taken to reduce the frazzled nerves and heightened blood-pressure of the queuing motorists on Doncaster Road.

1. At the junction of Doncaster Road and the Normanton Road, on Heath Common, there is a very short stretch from the traffic lights where two lanes merge into one.
Could the right-hand lane be coned off to prevent the whizz kids trying to overtake the queue?
2. At the traffic lights at the end of Agbrigg Road, there are two lanes. The traffic queues in the left-hand lane and, again, the whizz kids race past as far as they can in the right-hand lane then try to muscle in on the patient drivers.
Could the traffic be directed so that the left-hand lane is for those turning left into Agbrigg Road, and the right-hand lane used for those going straight ahead?
This would reduce congestion slightly, prevent the whizz kids' manoeuvres, and remove a source of annoyance for the law-abiding.
