Pilgrims Progress - 25th June 2010
Recently while washing a can for recycling, I cut my finger.
Blood was everywhere. Grabbing tissues I began to complain when, to my amusement, my son said, "Quiet down. It's only a fur wound."
Those Kalahari meercats on television have a lot to answer for.
Are we really so brainwashed by the media? Advertisements are big business but surely they are to be treated with a little scepticism- especially cold calls on the phone!
My husband wasn't too well when it rang. I hurried to answer.
"Hello. David here from —— beds." "Sorry" I yelled. "Can't talk now. I'm busy washing my husband."
I can imagine 'David' saying: "Well I've heard some excuses in my time but that one takes the biscuit."
Yet it was true - honestly. How do other people really see us? How do we react as Christians to situations?
Our new coalition government made promises while pursuing votes. Will they deliver? The weight of responsibility must be tremendous.
Honesty and integrity are vital, knowing full well that most undertakings will not be popular in these difficult times.
We too are accountable. We have responsibilities as followers of Jesus. He taught us to respect all humankind, to show love and concern for everyone, to be practical and spiritual Christians.
Actions often speak much louder than words: no excuses- true or false!
Are we credible advertisements in the way we spread his word and Influence? We may be the only Gospel many people might ever read? Quite a thought!
