Sex and drugs ... and a local entrepreneur

I got talking to Andy Hepworth while going about the day-to-day running of my electrical business.

During our chat we got talking about books and it came to my attention that he was a local author. And, to my amazement, I found out he was a contributor to one of my all-time favourite comics, Viz!

A Stiff Sentence is the memoirs of John Keenan, who served time for illegally importing the sex-drug Viagra.

It starts with a court case in Leeds back in 2005, but it unfolds to tell us the story of a local entrepreneur – John Keenan – who appears to be an average man struggling through business and making a good job of it as he goes.

While in India, buying something to treat another complaint, he stumbles across what the drug can do to give men the rise they are missing, if you get my drift!

Anyway, John decides to bring this drug, known as Kamagra, over to England and make a bit of money.

Thanks to this sex drug and a little loophole in English law, John creates a complex operation that would make him rich beyond his dreams.

However, as with all ventures of this nature, there's a flip side which leads to his downfall, bringing home his worst nightmares.

Throughout the journey of his story we read about the underworld in India, and we even get a glimpse of our own country's double

standards.

It's gripping and slightly chaotic – yet it's a nice read and would make a good movie or TV programme.
