Ian Hodgson, of Crofton, landed himself two lifetime best catches during a single six-hour fishing session while on holiday in America.
He first “hooked and boated” a 9lb white sturgeon, pictured, famous with locals on the Columbia River in Oregon where he caught it. The protected species was returned to the water.
And then he managed to catch a silver fresh run Chinook Salmon, which took him a frantic 20 minute battle to net. Also called King Salmon, it tipped the scales at just over 30lbs.
