This 'splendid' business book is such letdown
After hearing many splendid things about this book and being told by not one, not two, but three, people just how fantastic it was, I placed my order.
Over the next five days every time the postman came I got excited; every time he left without delivering my book I was
disappointed.
Then, after such a build-up, after such anticipation, a brown parcel hit my doormat. I ripped it open, put the kettle on and settled down to see what all the fuss was about.
I sat down with my brew and looked at the cover carefully. It was a bit on the cheap side but I thought, so what. It was yellow and had the subtitle Why Most Contractors' Businesses Don't Work and What To Do About It. I opened the book with excitement.
A couple of chapters in and I found the book a load of rubbish and a waste of a tenner! I knew before I bought it that it was based on the American market, but, the so-called friends who told me it was great were wrong.
It was full of useless information that as the co-owner of an electrical contracting business I found poor. It mentions that the contractor is too busy working 'in' their business, when they should be working 'on' their business.
And it states that you have to re-think anything you know about business and gives us role models to work with.
The book appears to be nothing more than an advert for a mentoring system.
