Your views on town shopping

What did you say?

Alec Shakespeare, 80, of Howard Street, Ossett, said: "It is a nice, parochial little town with a good little market. There are also three supermarkets so there is plenty of choice. I don't need to go anywhere else to shop. It would be better if we had some public toilets in the town centre.

Charles McDermott, 40, of Snapethorpe Road, Lupset, said: "We come here from Lupset because there are plenty of shops and cheap parking. It is good on a Tuesday and Friday, the market is on."

Pauline Thornton, 68, of Birchen Avenue, Ossett, said: "I think there is everything you need in Ossett. There are three supermarkets and, butcher's shops and the market for fresh fruit and vegetables. I don't really need to go anywhere else. When I look around and see empty shops it makes me sad, and I think when places close it has a snowball effect."
