A COUPLE with a small child carried out a burglary at a city centre jewellers.
A man and a woman entered the shop, on Kirkgate, with a child, believed to be called Jake, on Wednesday at about 12.30pm.

They asked to see a ring and as the display cabinet was opened the man grabbed a gold chain.

Staff tried to restrain him but he escaped with the chain.

The woman also ran off with the child. Police are now hunting the suspects.

The rough-looking man was about 6ft tall with a thin face and sunken cheeks.

He was wearing a beige zip-up jacket and light-coloured jeans.

The woman was very thin, had jet-black long hair and her eyebrows appeared to be painted on.

She was wearing a purple or blue-coloured top with a white top over it and an elasticated belt with a butterfly-style fastener.

Anyone with any information should contact police via 0845 6060606.
