AN ELDERLY woman needed oxygen after a cooking pan overheated.
Firefighters were called to the 81-year-old's home in Duke of York Avenue, Portobello at 5.30pm today (Sunday).
The woman, who is believed to be partially disabled, was given oxygen and an ambulance was summoned.
Crew manager Peter Hemsworth said: "She was suffering from smoke inhalation from an over-heated pan."
A smoke detector was working at the house but Mr Hemsworth wished to remind people about the dangers of leaving pans unattended on the cooker.
