A BOYFRIEND whacked his girlfriend round the head with Valentine's Day flowers after she threw them at him, a court heard.
Paul James Krzyszczyk, 25, had earlier assaulted his girlfriend Gemma Batley and her friend Natalie Snowden by pushing them on February 16.

Wakefield magistrates heard how Miss Batley ordered him to leave her Westgate flat and shoved the flowers i
nto his chest.

Krzyszczyk, of Forest Close, Wakefield, said: "Do you know how much they cost me?"

Prosecutor Z Hussain said: "He then started whacking her with the flowers on the head, causing the petals to fall to the floor."

Krzyszczyk also threw a rocking chair across the room, which belonged to Miss Batley's dead grandfather. The impact chipped a new wooden floor and broke the chair's arm. A mirror was also damaged.

Krzyszczyk pleaded guilty to two charges of assault and one of criminal damage.

Julie Allott, mitigating, said Krzyszczyk had spent a considerable amount of time choosing the flowers and admitted striking Miss Batley with them when they were "effectively thrown back at him".

The court heard how the couple had been drinking before the offences took place and they had argued. Krzyszczyk had been asked to leave after making derogatory comments about Miss Snowden.

The case was adjourned until June 2 for a pre-sentence report looking at community penalties.
