THEY might have sore feet and aching muscles but the city's Great North Run athletes feel great because they have helped a whole host of good causes.
Teams and individuals from across the city were among 52,000 runners who took part in the Great North Run on Sunday.

The half-marathon started in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and finished in South Shields.

Dave Archer, from Sandal, was hot on the heels of the Olympians with an impressive race time of one hour, 11 minutes and 53 seconds, which placed him 46th overall in the race.
