TWO Wakefield headteachers have been to Downing Street.
Michael Wilkins from Outwood Grange Technology College, and Martin Shevill from Ossett School, were among 90 headteachers invited to Number 10 for a reception celebrating exceptional school leadership.

In their roles as National Leaders of Education the pair have been helping to support struggling schools since their own were chosen as National Support Schools by the National College of School Leadership because of their success.

They were greeted by Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Ed Balls, Normanton MP and secretary of state for schools.

Martin Shevill said: "It was a privilege to be invited to Downing Street with other leading headteachers. The prime minister was keen to point out to me that he wanted me to pass on to all members of the school community his thanks for making our school so successful."
