MOTHER'S Day brought something extra special for one    couple.
Beth and Ian Harrison, 28, of Windyridge Street, Horbury, celebrated Mother’s Day in Barnsley Hospital after the birth of their first baby boy, Ruben.

Mrs Harrison gave birth at 4pm on March 14 and said she was delighted with the timing of her special delivery.

She said: “I was due last Wednesday but was really wishing him to be born on Mother’s Day. All the midwives got us a card. Everyone was really nice, it was lovely.

“My mum came to see me the next day but she was sad she couldn’t be there on Mother’s Day.”

Mrs Harrison was in labour from 2am on the Saturday. She said: “I was in labour for longer than 24 hours – it was a really long time.”

The couple said Ruben, who weighed in at 6lbs 13oz, was settling in nicely, but obviously there had been changes around the home.

Mr Harrison said: “We’ve been really busy with family and friends visiting the baby.”

Eleven more babies were born on Mother’s Day at Pontefract Hospital.
