Kylie X2008, kicked off in France on Tuesday after the 39-year-old spent a couple of days at the Langthwaite Business Park site, perfecting stage movements, lighting and choreography.

Her crew had been there for the last few weeks preparing for the three-month tour, which will also visit Germany, Bulgaria, Romania, Spain and Austria.

Kylie, who has had 43 hit singles, will also be playing in Manchester, Newcastle, London and Glasgow.

Litestructures is one of Europe's leading manufacturers of custom aluminium staging systems.

Its 54ft, five-floor arena has also played host to bands such as Keane, Franz Ferdinand and Coldplay, as well as solo star Robbie Williams in recent years.

But Wakefield does not only play host to superstars – it also has a few of its own home-grown celebrities stepping into the spotlight.

Former Big Brother contestant Chanelle Hayes, from Middlestown, has high hopes of becoming a well-known pop star when her debut single I Want It is released next week.
