TEN new jobs have been created with a £350,000 refurbishment of a McDonald's restaurant on Dewsbury Road in Wakefield.
The investment was made after city businesswoman Anne Wainwright took over the restaurant as franchisee last September, guiding it to a 20 per cent sales increase.

Mrs Wainwright said: “The restaurant makeover demonstrates a commitment to invest in the local community both financially and in terms of employment.”

The new jobs would provide a welcome relief during the recession after the refurbishment, which was part of a new image drive by McDonald’s, she added.

It was hoped the vibrant colour scheme and external landscaping would attract a broader range of customers.

A fun day with children’s entertainment, face-painting and competitions will mark the opening tomorrow from 11am until 3pm.
