PARENTS have been hard at work raising more than £2,000 for a hospital which has helped children from a private school.
The Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) at St Hilda's Primary School donated £2,350 to the Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity after learning how staff there had cared for sick children from the school.
Children from St Hilda's, on Dovecote Lane, presented the charity's mascot, Theo The Bear, with the cheque on Friday, April 18.
Mothers Anne-Marie Hinchliffe and Vicky Allen act as the joint PTA chairman for St Hilda's.
Mrs Hinchliffe said: "My son has had quite a lot of operations there due to him having a dislocated hip.
"Other children from the school have also been there as it's the main children's hospital in the area so as a school we really wanted to give something back."
The money was raised through an auction and raffle at last November's PTA Winter Ball.
But instead of tins of biscuits and bottles of wine, the prizes included a week in a Portuguese villa, a fully-fitted bathroom suite and a session with a professional photographer.
Mrs Hinchliffe said: "We had some amazing prizes donated and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated a prize or bought a ticket."
