THE row surrounding faulty parking barriers at Pugneys Country Park should finally come to a close next week.
After the Express exposed the problems with the parking charge system Wakefield Council has said it will soon be fixed.

Drivers are supposed to be able to park for one hour free of charge and then pay 50p for every hour afterwards.

But since the barriers were installed in June they have hardly ever worked according to regular park users.

Last week the council said a software problem was to blame but now the bug appears to have been sorted.

Lisa Dodd, service director for sport and culture, said: "Engineers have been working on the problem and the council hope the problem will be fixed during the coming week.

"The new car parking pricing structure will then come into force once the barriers are activated."
