A MAJOR operation to stop the supply of Class A drugs onto the city's streets has ended with 20 dealers and users being jailed for more than 55 years.
In one of the biggest crackdowns in Wakefield 49 people were arrested during the four day blitz, involving about 400 officers, in March 2007.

A total of 31 people were then charged with drugs trafficking offences and appeared at Leeds Crown Court.

And the last offender was sentenced today. (Friday.)

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Beldon who led the investigation said: "This operation was set up to remove Class A drug dealers from the streets of the Wakefield District and put them behind bars where they belong.

"Drug misuse cuts across all communities and breeds crime, violence and anti-social behaviour."
