A Kirkhamgate man will be hoping to change famillies’ fortunes this year.
Neil Hurst, of Batley Road, is Vernon Kay’s new “sidekick” on ITV’s All Star Family Fortunes.
The 30-year-old made his gameshow debut during a festive special last Thursday, dressed as Father Christmas and a party goer.
And now he will be on our screens every Sunday as the popular programme returns for another series.
Mr Hurst has already pre-recorded his scenes, which involve showing contestants what they have won when they reveal a spot prize.
The father-of-two said: “Vernon is a good fella. We filmed it all in one day and it was a very busy day. We had lots to do, but he was nice and we got on really well.
“I always seem to play comical roles. I suppose I am the Kirkhamgate village idiot!
“I enjoy making people laugh. When they all stop laughing then I will get a real job.”
Mr Hurst is currently in Beauty and the Beast pantomime at the Victoria Theatre, in Halifax, until Sunday.
He has previously starred on West End stages and done various television appearances.
Last Thursday the festive edition of the show saw an Emmerdale team take on presenters from Daybreak.
On Sunday Coronation Street star Mikey North will compete against Emmerdale’s Matthew Wolfenden on ITV1 at 7.45pm.
