MEET the happy couple who are setting aside two minutes of their wedding to remember our heroes.

The soon to be Mr and Mrs Michelle and Tom Hobkirk from Lofthouse are getting married at 11am on 11-11-11 and are holding a two-minute silence before taking their vows.

Miss Hobkirk, who has already changed her name to match her partner of 13 years’, said: “I have a few members within my family in the forces, and also ancestors that have served in the first and second world wars – I myself was born in Catterick Richmond on camp.

“We just think it’s so important to remember those who gave their lives and this gives myself, and my family and friends an unusual chance to pay our respect and gratitude.”

All of the couple’s guests will wear poppies and the wedding will feature music from the first and second world wars.

The Remembrance wedding is being held at the Cedar Court Hotel in Wakefield and the pair plan to honeymoon in Bangkok and the Maldives.
