BARCLAYS bank is set to close down and move into the Trinity Walk shopping centre.
The branch at the bottom of Wood Street will close and relocate to the shopping centre in May under modernisation plans by the banking giant.
Barclays said letters were being sent to customers to explain the move, which would provide improved banking facilities at the Trinity Walk branch.
A Barclays spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that the Wakefield city centre branch of Barclays is relocating from Wood Street to the Trinity Walk Shopping Centre and we plan to open the new branch for business on Tuesday May 8.
“The new branch will provide improved customer facilities with the latest technology in the heart of this new development.
“Letters advising details of the changes will be with all our customers shortly and customers with any questions regarding the move can speak to staff at our Wood Street branch who will be delighted to help.”
