CELEBRITY chef James Martin will cook up a treat next month to raise money for Wakefield Cathedral’s transformation project.
The Saturday Kitchen presenter is set to host a ladies’ dinner at his restaurant in Leeds next month in aid of Project 2013 - a £5m scheme to transform the cathedral and make it fit for modern use.
Mr Martin agreed to help after being approached by the cathedral’s community fundraiser Terry Rigg.
Diners will sample some of his famous signature dishes, including Whitby crab risotto, seasonal lamb, and whiskey and white chocolate croissants.
As well as doing the cooking, the famous Yorkshire chef will also say a few words about each dish and mingle with guests.
Mr Rigg said: “We’re delighted that James agreed to help. It’s set to be a fabulous evening for a fantastic cause.”
The £5m project is now 50 per cent complete.
The celebrity chef said: “I am really looking forward to the event and I’m delighted to be able to help the cause.”
Tickets for the dinner, on Monday, October 29, cost £60 and are available from Terry Rigg via the Cathedral on 01924 373923.
