BINGO has catapulted a mum-of-three onto primetime TV.
Karen Taylor, 36, is one of the faces of advertising campaign being shown during breaks in soap opera Emmerdale.
The secretary, of Radcliffe Road, Lupset, was encouraged by her daughters to take part in auditions for online bingo site tombola.co.uk
Ms Taylor said: “I sent a picture off and that was that. I got a phone call about going for a London audition - all expenses paid.”
The mum-of-three took part in events like line dancing and juggling with 100 other hopefuls.
Then Ms Taylor and 24 other finalists were hand-picked to take part in the filming down in Cornwall in March.
She took part in dare-devil tasks like riding a zip-wire over a 65ft drop and abseiling down Cornish cliffs.
Ms Taylor said: “It’s something I’ve always wanted to try but never have done. The whole experience was absolutely fantastic.”
But she also tried her hand at the much more sedate challenge of Cornish Pasty making.
The fly-on-the-wall footage was used to create “sponsorship bumpers” to tie in with the long-running ITV1 soap. It will feature clips of the group and individual players.
Ms Taylor said she has already had a great response from her friends and family over the adverts, which began airing on Monday.
Her colleagues at Simons Group, on the Wakefield 41 Business Park have also been complementing her, as have daughters Natasha, 17, Kyrin, 15, Sian, seven.
She said: “They think it’s absolutely great that I’ve had this opportunity. My little one, Sian, is so excited. She’s been telling all her friends at school and their teachers.”
Ms Taylor said her family back in Dundee, Scotland, have been sending her texts and Facebook messages about her TV fame.
She said: “It’s all been great.”
The mum-of-three’s advert is scheduled to air tonight (Friday) during Emmerdale on ITV1 from 7pm.
