Bonfire and firework displays taking place across Wakefield

Guy Fawkes celebrations will light up the city’s skies as fireworks displays take place across the district.

The annual bonfire and fireworks display at Thornes Park will take place on Saturday.

The event starts at 6pm, the bonfire will be lit at 7pm and the firework display will start at 8pm. There will be no parking available inside the park.

Walton Sports and Social Club will also hold their annual bonfire on Saturday.

The bonfire will be lit at 6 pm and the fireworks start at 8pm. Entry is £1.50 for adults and £1 for children .

Whitwood Golf Club’s bonfire will also take place on Saturday.

The bonfire will begin at 7pm followed by a Firework display at 8pm.

Newton Hill Cricket Club are asking people to donate unwanted wood. People can drop the wood off at their ground on Leeds Road from 9.30am on Saturday.

Featherstone Rovers bonfire and fireworks will take place on Sunday, November 2 from 6pm.

The event will raise money for the new stands. There will be children’s rides and stalls. Entry is £2 but children under 10 go free.
