SPARKS will fly over the city next week as crowds come out to celebrate Bonfire Night.
Organised events are taking place, including the popular free Clarence Park bonfire next Saturday.
Meanwhile, Wakefield Central NPT has been patrolling the streets to clampdown on people using fireworks in an anti-social way.
Insp Richard Close said: “As Bonfire Night approaches, we do get a number of calls from local residents who are alarmed or distressed by people misusing fireworks or behaving anti-socially. I would like to warn them that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated.”
Among the bonfire events taking place are:
l Clarence Park, Wakefield, Saturday, November 5, from 6pm, bonfire lit at 7pm and fireworks at 8pm.
l Blacker Hall Farm, Branch Road, Calder Grove, Friday, November 4, 6pm-9pm, £5 for adults, £3 for children, tickets are available from the shop or by calling 01924 267202.
l Woodman Inn, Leeds Road, Outwood, Friday, November 4, 7pm-10pm, bonfire lit at 7pm, fireworks at around 8pm.
l Ossett Albion / Ossett Fire Station, Warehouse Systems Stadium, Dimple Wells Road, Friday, November 4, 6pm, bonfire lit at 6.30pm, £3 for adults, £2 for children, available from fire station and Ossett Albion’s ground.
l Notton Village Sports Field, Notton, Saturday, November 5, 7pm, bonfire lit at 7pm, fireworks from 8pm, £3.50 for adults, £2.50 for children, from Notton Post Office, more details call Alan 01226 724513.
l The Vine Tree, Leeds Road, Outwood, Saturday, November 5, starts at 6.30pm, fireworks at 7.30pm and 9pm.
l St Michael’s Cricket Club, Dewsbury Road, Friday, November 4 from 6.30pm.
