Burglars took electronics and games consoles after using keys they stole from a car parked outside a house.

They broke into a car parked outside a property on Highfield Rise, Alverthorpe, at some point between 11.45pm on Wednesday, October 28 and 7am the following day.

They then stole keys to the house and garage which were in the car and used them to enter the property.

The owners were asleep upstairs while the burglars stole an Xbox 360 console, an iPhone, a Nintendo Wii console and a Kindle.

Tools from the garage were also stolen in the burglary.
