Normanton firm supplies equipment for world land speed record attempt

Seddons Plant and Engineers, on Normanton industrial Estate, has provided five Honda generators to the Bloodhound team, which is aiming to reach 800mph with the specially build machine.

The Bloodhound SSC vehicle is a mix of car and aircraft technology and it is powered by both a jet engine and a rocket.

It is designed to reach 1,000 mph in less than a minute.

The generators will be used on re-fuelling rigs during the stunt.

The team will be trying to smash the current land speed record of 763mph set by another British car, Thrust SSC, in 1997. The record attempt will be carried out on a specially prepared track in South Africa.

“We will be loaning a total of five Honda Generators for re-fuelling rigs in South Africa during the world land speed record attempt, and Honda Power Equipment are loaning a further five Honda Generators. It is testimony to the quality of equipment that ourselves and Honda Power Equipment provide that we have been selected to supply these vital pieces of kit.”
