Wakefield architects The Harris Partnership has opened a new office in London as it continues to expand.

The St John’s North firm launched The Northern Design House in London office on St Christopher’s Place W1. The move will allow the partnership to attract more development investment from the capital into UK regions such as Wakefield. It follows a period of unprecedented success that has seen the firm grow into a national firm employing 140 people, including 70 in Wakefield.

Group managing director Mike Schorah said: “We now have an established national presence and are the go to architect for many national funds and retailers. The central London office provides us with a physical proximity to our national and international investor-developer clients, as well as signalling our ambitions as a nationally growing and recognised business.

“We are particularly proud of our track record of bringing major investment schemes to the north that generate employment and economic prosperity and our new London office will play an important role in growing that investment stream over coming years.”

The Harris Partnership - which entered the BHP Top 100 SMEs in Yorkshire this year - will continue with local projects, including two new Costa drive throughs at Charlesworth Way and Snow Hill, an Aldi store at Snow Hill, a new B&M Bargains and a further Aldi at Wakefield Road, Featherstone, and an office and industrial scheme on Milner Way, Ossett.
