IT was a tight squeeze for 12 Cathedral choristers as they crammed into a car this week.
The youngsters jammed into a Toyota Aygo on Wednesday to launch Wakefield Cathedral’s latest fundraising initiative – a raffle in which the car is first prize.
The raffle runs until December and is expected to raise up to £30,000 for the Cathedral’s Project 2013 renovations.
Community fundraiser Terry Rigg said: “This is just one way in which people can support the Cathedral.
“It is not just about the Cathedral. It belongs to the people of Wakefield and if they don’t support it, then who will?”
The project, which will cost around £3.5 million, has seen all the Cathedral floors relaid and the walls cleaned.
The scheme is due to finish in March next year.
The Cathedral teamed up with car dealership Benfield Toyota to launch the raffle.
The Dean of Wakefield, the Very Revd Jonathan Greener, said: “This super little car would make the ideal Christmas present for anyone.
“Tickets are just £1 so everyone can have a go, and help support Project 2013 and the renewal of our Cathedral.”
Tickets are available from the Cathedral shop or by telephone on 01924 373923.
The raffle will be drawn on Christmas eve.
