A CHARITABLE opticians is helping poorly children to see Christmas this year.

Rayner Opticians brought smiles to the faces of children spending Christmas in hospitals with extra toys to play with.

The city centre branch donated more than 50 toys, games and teddies to the children’s ward at Pinderfields Hospital this week.

Branch manager Elaine Houghton said: “It’s something we like to do as a company every year because it’s nice to help the hospital as much as possible and they’re always really grateful for it.

“It must be awful to be in hospital at Christmas so every little helps.”

The bags full of toys have been flooding into the opticians on Union Street with people’s kind donations.

Mrs Houghton said: “We have had a really good response over the past few years and people have been very generous.

“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped us for all of their support.”

The toys of were given to Pinderfields Hospital this week on Wednesday .
